Steve spent 6 years in the U.S. Army in a light infantry unit as a combat engineer. He served as a team leader and also earned the rank of Sergeant after 2 ½ years. After leaving the Army in 1996, he began his career in law enforcement in 1997. For the past 16 years, Steve has been a member of a major metropolitan area SWAT Team. He currently serves as a Team Leader and breacher (explosive, ballistic, exothermic, manual, and mechanical) with specialties in maritime / waterborne operations, airborne operations, shooting, movement, and vehicle take-downs. He has completed over 1000 missions in his career thus far. Steve has been involved in planning and conducting numerous high priority complex missions, as well as developing and writing current standard operating procedures for his team. Throughout his career, Steve has taught and trained with other teams both nationally and internationally. He has also competed in individual, team, and national competitions. Steve has earned multiple certifications throughout both careers. He has over 26 years experience of instructing individuals and small groups, as well as large groups at various venues on a variety of topics. Steve was an instructor for the State of Washington’s Sniper School for two years. He was also an instructor for the State’s Basic and Advanced SWAT for nine years. Steve is currently a consultant instructor for the U.S. Department of State providing anti-terrorism training throughout the world.
